While working with my partners at CFD we would often reference an idea with the term "first wave" or second or third etc. If an idea was truly an original idea and one that no one had seen or experienced before, then it was a first wave. Most clients are not comfortable with a first wave idea because of several reasons I suppose, unproven, too out there, uncomfortable, and on and on. A "good" first wave idea is rare, a company that embraces and implements a first wave idea is even rarer.
